I’ve had contact with a few new small businesses over the last few weeks. Each one has asked for help promoting their business.
Let’s start with the basics:
📧 Use a business email – Hello@businessname.com looks far more professional than a personal email or businessname@gmail.com. It helps customers and clients trust your business.
📄 Use electronic invoices/estimates. This is quicker and can save money when filing your end-of-year returns
☎ Use a separate phone number for business calls. I use a VOIP number via my handset. When using this number, it displays my business name.
💳 For anyone who takes in-person payments, I recommend you take a look at sway.money as a simple way of saving money. It is £10 per month, with no transaction charges and there is no contract so you only pay the monthly fee when you need to (I’ve used this for events before and then cancelled the payment when the card isn’t in use).
It’s tough out there at the moment. Get the small things in place before setting up ads or marketing campaigns.
Once these are in place, you will be ready to rock!
